Description
Description
J3890 one-pack clear gloss finish for exterior wood above the waterline, used with the Awlwood primer system.
What is included
No separate converter. Awlwood primer, T0201 brushing reducer and T0202 spray reducer are separate products.
Application
Brush/roller for initial grain-filling coats; later coats can also be sprayed.
Mixing and reduction
Do not thin the first two brush/roller coats. Where allowed for later coats, use only the specified Awlwood reducer, up to 10%.
Surface preparation
Prime clean, dry, prepared timber with the correct Awlwood primer and observe its overcoat window. Do not sand the primer as a substitute for meeting that window.
Coats and coverage
At least 8 coats and 10 mil total dry-film build are specified for exterior timber; the first grain-filling coats need longer intervals than later multi-coating stages.
Working and drying times
At 77°F: approximately 2-hour touch dry, 4-hour sandable time and 24-hour hard dry. Initial coats and final-coat preparation have their own instructions.
Compatibility and limits
Moisture-curing: keep the can sealed and do not return unused decanted material. Avoid very low humidity, unsuitable temperatures and universal/alcohol-based reducers.
