A Note from Nick: How I Got Here and What’s Next for PartsDuck

I’m Nick Borrelli. I started PartsDuck in 2025, and I run it with support from my wife, Brittany, and my three kids. If you know me from NuWave Marine or Powerboat Supply, I’d like to catch you up. If you’ve found PartsDuck without knowing anything about me, I’d like to introduce myself.

This is the short version of how I got here.

My years at NuWave Marine and Powerboat Supply

I started building the online side of NuWave Marine from a dusty boat shop back around 2009. It began with selling excess parts on eBay, which I grew into millions of dollars in sales each year. From there, I launched websites, taught myself Google Ads and SEO, and handled the web and marketing work myself. Some of you might remember MercExhaust.com. Later came NuWaveMarine.com and eventually the rebrand to PowerBoatSupply.com, which I also managed.

As the business grew, I started the boat-sales operation too. I negotiated the manufacturer agreements, worked as the sales manager, and handled the websites and marketing for that side while still running ecommerce.

There was a lot going on.

Over those years, I grew company revenue from a few hundred thousand dollars to more than $10 million at its peak. NuWave made the Inc. 5000 list in 2021. I’m proud of that. I put a huge part of my life into building that business, and I know many of you through the work I did there. But I was working 50–60 hours a week for a company I didn’t own, and I wanted to put that effort into building something of my own.

Starting PartsDuck

In April 2025, with support from my family, I left NuWave. At 39, I started Borrelli Marine Group with one goal in mind: keep boating affordable for normal people.
PartsDuck was the first step.

Starting again meant building a new website, getting a new name out there, and earning people’s business all over again. Brittany and my family have been helping me operate the company, and we blew past $1 million in sales in our first year.

I’m grateful for that, especially to the people who took a chance on us when PartsDuck was a name they’d never heard before.

The marina opportunity

A few months after starting PartsDuck, I came across an opportunity to buy a marina. While working through the purchase and financing, I served as its general manager. So I was growing PartsDuck and managing the marina at the same time.

The marina cost much more than I had originally planned to spend, so I brought in potential investment partners. Just before closing, they proposed new terms that would have given them majority control. I wasn’t willing to give that up, so I declined the counteroffer.

Managing the marina and working through the purchase taught me a lot. It also made me more certain about how I want to build this company. If I’m going to spend my life building it, I need to be able to follow through on what I set out to do. That means keeping control over decisions about pricing, customers, employees, and the future of the business.

The bigger goal behind Borrelli Marine Group

My parent company is Borrelli Marine Group, and the goal behind it is pretty simple: I want to keep boating affordable for normal people.

I want to help preserve independent marinas and boating related businesses and give owners an option besides selling to private equity. I want to own and operate places that can grow and improve without losing their personality or pricing out the people who made them what they are.

That’s why PartsDuck means so much to me. It’s a business I’m putting everything into, and it’s how I plan to build toward that bigger goal.

What that means for you at PartsDuck

If you’re shopping for a water pump, prop, or anode, you need the right part and someone who will help you. You have your own boat, budget, and plans to think about. Doing that job well is how I intend to earn your business and keep it.

When you shop at PartsDuck, you’re also supporting a family business working toward something bigger. My plan is to grow this company until I can buy and operate independent marinas, keep them affordable, and protect the boating lifestyle we all love.

I want you to know who’s behind the website and what I’m working toward with your support.

To longtime customers and those just meeting me

If we worked together before, I’d love to hear from you again. You can find me here at PartsDuck now, and I’d appreciate the opportunity to help you with your next project.

If you’re new here, thanks for taking a few minutes to get to know me. I hope we get the chance to work together.

And you don’t need to be buying anything to reach out. Say hello. Tell me what you’re working on or how your boat is doing. If someone you know has been wondering where Nick from NuWave went, send this along.

There’s a lot I still want to build. Right now, I’m happy to be here doing it with my family.
