Lumitec SeaBlaze X3: A Standout Underwater Light Upgrade

Underwater lights change the whole feel of a boat after sunset. The glow around the transom, the color beneath the swim platform, the last few minutes at the dock: this is an upgrade you get to enjoy every time you switch it on.

The Lumitec SeaBlaze X3 is our pick for boaters who want a serious step up in surface-mount underwater lighting. Its appeal goes beyond a big brightness number. The combination of output, construction, control options, and manufacturer support is what makes it worth a close look.

Why the SeaBlaze X3 earns our recommendation

At PartsDuck, the SeaBlaze X3 White/Blue (101945) is $503.99 per light, and Spectrum RGBW (101946) is $732.79 per light. For context, our OceanLED Sport S3124s White/Blue is $631.00 and Sport S3166s Multi-Color is $759.00. That puts the X3 $127.01 lower in the dual-color comparison and $26.21 lower in the full-color comparison. Combined with its published output, construction, and control options, those prices make the X3 our value pick among these options.

USD fixture prices checked October 20, 2026; subject to change. Lights are priced individually. Controllers, installation, shipping, and applicable taxes are additional. These are comparable color categories, not identical fixtures or a controlled performance test.

Our value judgment starts with the complete installation: the lights, the way they spread light, the controls you actually want, and the support behind them. An inexpensive fixture is not necessarily a bargain if it leaves you wanting to replace the whole setup.

For us, the X3 earns its place among premium surface-mount lights by combining 8,000 lumens on white with bronze construction, DryLock protection, and a choice of straightforward switch control or optional Poco integration. You can start with the controls you need today and plan a more coordinated lighting system later.

Comparable premium options include OceanLED's Sport series, which publishes output up to 6,000 fixture lumens across the range and now also offers a five-year warranty. Those published lumen figures are useful context, not a controlled side-by-side brightness test. Our reason to choose the X3 is the overall combination of output, optics, controls, and construction. See the Sport-series specifications and OceanLED's warranty announcement.

When comparing your options, price the complete installation: the number of lights, wiring, installation labor, and any optional controller. For the latest fixture price, check the SeaBlaze X3 product page.

Our recommendation weighs published specifications, features, and price. The best choice for your boat also depends on your water conditions, mounting locations, and preferred controls.

8,000 lumens—with attention to where the light goes

Lumitec rates the X3 at 8,000 lumens measured on white output. That qualification matters: it is not a promise of 8,000 lumens in every selected color.

The manufacturer also describes an asymmetric flood pattern that spreads light broadly across the horizontal plane while limiting wasted vertical spill. The practical attraction is a wide area of illumination around the stern, rather than buying a brightness number without considering its distribution. See Lumitec's X3 feature overview.

Do not choose underwater lights by a night photograph alone. Clear water and favorable exposure can make a modest installation look spectacular, while murky water can limit the visible reach of a powerful fixture. Output and optics give you a useful starting point; your boat and home waters finish the picture.

Bronze, tempered glass, and DryLock protection

The X3 uses a naval-bronze housing and heat-tempered glass. Its DryLock technology combines thermal management, leak protection, and moisture-prevention measures. Lumitec positions that combination as a durability improvement in its redesigned surface-mount platform.

That is the kind of engineering we want to see in equipment that lives below the waterline: attention to long-term reliability as well as the view from the dock. The official X3 product sheet documents the design and current specifications.

White/Blue or Spectrum: choose how you want to use it

Version Part number Why choose it?
Dual-color White/Blue 101945 You want the classic white-and-blue underwater-lighting look without paying for a full palette.
Spectrum RGBW 101946 You want full-color selection and more freedom to coordinate the water lighting with the rest of the boat.

You can operate the X3 through a suitable switch using Lumitec's Timed Toggle Protocol. A compatible Poco digital lighting controller is optional, adding more precise color selection, dimming, and scenes through supported displays or connected devices. Poco and the display equipment are separate purchases.

Why we like Lumitec as a brand

Lumitec was founded in 2007 and focuses on lighting for demanding environments. More useful than a slogan is the detail it publishes about development: its Florida facility includes salt-spray, vibration, thermal, and water-ingress testing capabilities, plus an integrating sphere for measuring light output. The company also describes its Florida manufacturing and assembly operation.

For a boater, that means there is a specialist lighting company behind the fixture, with published installation guidance and a technical-support route. It is one of the reasons we are comfortable putting Lumitec on a shortlist for an upgrade intended to stay on the boat. Read about Lumitec's engineering and testing capabilities.

A five-year limited warranty

Lumitec's current warranty covers manufacturing, workmanship, and material defects for the original purchaser for five years, subject to its terms. That is meaningful backing for an upgrade intended to stay on your boat. Keep your purchase record and follow the installation instructions. Read Lumitec's warranty and support details.

What to know before upgrading

Official X3 in-box photograph: light, attached cable, mounting screws, and instructions. Installation supplies and controls must be planned separately.

  • Electrical load: published operating draw is 5.5A at 12V DC or 2.5A at 24V DC per light. Two lights therefore represent roughly 11A at 12V at that operating point. Circuit protection and wiring must follow the installation instructions.
  • Mounting: the X3 is approximately 3.8 inches in diameter with a 0.5-inch cable-entry hole. Surface mount does not mean no drilling.
  • Existing SeaBlaze installations: Lumitec lists a shared screw-hole pattern with X2 and Quattro. That can simplify a replacement, but does not automatically approve the old wiring, mounting surface, or sealant.
  • Placement: check clearance, interior access, hull material, and the recommended mounting location before committing. Bronze fixtures are not a reason to assume every hull is compatible.

Use the X3 installation guide and current instruction sheet to plan the complete job with your installer. Underwater accent lighting also does not replace navigation lights.

Our take: a strong upgrade you can enjoy every evening

The SeaBlaze X3 makes a compelling case for spending on the whole package: substantial white-light output, thoughtful beam distribution, marine-focused construction, flexible control, and long-term manufacturer backing. For an owner comparing premium surface-mount lights, it belongs near the top of the list.
