Description
Description
The separately sold Y2001E curing component for the InterProtect 2000E two-part epoxy system. It requires the matching base component and is not a complete coating kit.
Product Details
| Supplied form | Curing Agent only; matching component required separately |
|---|---|
| System mix ratio | 3:1 by volume; use the matching base and curing component |
Selection and Application
Do not apply over one-part paint. The required film build and overcoat interval depend on whether the job is hull barrier protection, metal priming or another specified use.
Follow the product label and technical instructions for preparation, mixing, application conditions and overcoating intervals.
Application Reference — Mixed System
| Coat schedule (mixed system) | Blister prevention/corrosion system: build to 10 mils total dry film, typically 4–5 roller coats or 2–3 spray coats. Substrate priming before fairing and the specified no-sand system use a different schedule. |
|---|---|
| Coverage / yield (mixed system) | Theoretical: 240 ft² per US gallon by brush; 135.6 by airless spray. Practical airless spray: 105.8 ft² per US gallon. |
| Dry film per coat (mixed system) | 2.6 mils dry by brush / roller, 5.4 mils dry by spray |
| Touch Dry at 73°F (23°C) | 2 hrs |
| Pot Life at 73°F (23°C) | 3 hrs |
Mix base and curing agent 3:1 by volume, then allow the specified 20-minute induction period. Do not apply over one-part coatings. Antifouling overcoat windows depend on temperature and the next paint; use the system chart for the selected topcoat.
Coverage is per coat unless a filler thickness is stated. Theoretical figures exclude application losses; practical yield varies with surface, film build and method.
Drying figures are reference values at the stated temperature. Recoating, sanding and launch have separate requirements; follow the selected product label and coating-system schedule.
