Dr. Shrink Marine Shrink Wrap – Boat Winterization & Storage Film
Protect your boat during the off-season with professional-grade shrink wrap designed for marine storage.
Dr. Shrink marine shrink wrap creates a tight, waterproof barrier to help protect boats from the elements during winter storage. When properly supported and installed, the fitted cover helps shed rain and snow, limits pooling, and reduces the loose movement that can cause conventional covers to rub against gelcoat and painted surfaces.
Made from 100% virgin resin with UV inhibitors, this shrink wrap film combines strength with resistance to sun exposure. Standard 7 mil material suits most boat-covering applications, while wider 50-foot and 60-foot rolls feature heavier film. Center-folded rolls make the material easier to handle, position, and drape over a boat before shrinking.
Suitable for marinas, boatyards, and professional winterization services, Dr. Shrink film can also cover mid-sized machinery during transport or storage and serve select temporary enclosure applications.
Key Features
-
Waterproof storage protection: Helps shield boats and equipment from rain, snow, and outdoor exposure.
-
UV-inhibited construction: Manufactured from 100% virgin resin with UV inhibitors for strength and durability.
-
Thickness options: Most rolls are 7 mil thick; 50-foot-wide rolls are 8 mil, and 60-foot-wide rolls are 10 mil.
-
Multiple widths and colors: Choose material to match the size of the job and storage conditions.
-
Center-folded rolls: Simplify handling and draping, especially when working with wider material.
-
Recyclable material: Made from #4 low-density polyethylene (LDPE).
Choosing Your Shrink Wrap Color
White — Versatile protection for most storage applications
White shrink wrap minimizes heat transfer and helps limit condensation, making it a practical choice for general boat storage. Proper ventilation is still recommended.
Blue — Well suited to snowy climates
Blue shrink wrap absorbs more solar heat, helping snow shed from the cover. Additional ventilation is recommended to manage condensation beneath the film.
Clear — Visibility and natural light
Clear shrink wrap allows light through, making it useful for greenhouse applications and covered brokerage boats that need to remain visible for showings. Greater heat transfer requires substantial ventilation to help control condensation and mildew. Active ventilation combined with passive vents is recommended.
Selecting the Right Roll Width
Choose a width that covers the boat’s support framework and reaches approximately 6 inches below the perimeter band, leaving enough material to tuck beneath the band.
Depending on the boat’s dimensions, installers may select a roll width based on the vessel’s overall length and cut material to span its beam. For larger boats, choosing the roll width around the required cross-boat coverage may reduce waste. Measure over the complete support structure before selecting a size.
Recycling Used Shrink Wrap
Dr. Shrink film is made from recyclable #4 LDPE. Check local acceptance requirements or use a compatible Dr. Shrink REBAG® recycling bag, sold separately. Remove straps, vents, and other non-film components as required by the recycling program.
For professional use only. Proper support, installation, and ventilation are essential for effective storage protection.
