Description
Description
Resin for WEST SYSTEM boat repair, bonding and laminating projects. Choose a compatible 200-series hardener for the working conditions and finish required. Resin only; hardener and dispensing pumps are sold separately. Select one container size; the main photo shows size options, not a multipack.
Sizes and manufacturer part numbers
| Part number | Resin size | Matching hardener group |
|---|---|---|
| 105-A | 1 Quart | A |
| 105-B | 0.98 Gallon | B |
| 105-C | 4.35 Gallon | C |
Matching components
Choose the resin size above, then match the hardener container group (A, B or C). Resin and hardener are sold separately. Choose 205 Fast, 206 Slow, 207 Special Clear or 209 Extra Slow for the application; the mixing ratio depends on the hardener.
Browse WEST SYSTEM resin and hardeners and the 300 Mini Pump Set.
Manufacturer product information. Follow the product label and current manufacturer instructions for preparation and application.
Choose the hardener for the job
| 205 Fast | Shorter working time; general bonding and coating. 5:1 resin-to-hardener ratio by volume. |
|---|---|
| 206 Slow | Longer working time; bonding and barrier coating. Not intended for clear coating. 5:1 by volume. |
| 207 Special Clear | Clear wood coating and laminating. 3:1 by volume. |
| 209 Extra Slow | Extended working time for bonding and coating. 3:1 by volume. |
Working time, cure time and minimum application temperature depend on the hardener. Read the selected hardener listing before choosing a system.
Dispensing and preparation
Measure the resin and hardener at the specified ratio. With the correct calibrated 300 pumps, use equal full strokes of each pump; this does not mean equal liquid volumes. Do not add extra hardener to speed curing. Prepare a sound, clean, dry and properly abraded surface for the substrate.
For recoating cured epoxy, follow the manufacturer's surface-preparation guidance, including removal of amine blush where applicable. Do not treat an epoxy coating as a substitute for the required exterior protective finish.
