Description
Quicksilver 92-8M0222056 is High Performance SAE 90 marine gear lubricant in a 5-gallon pail. It is used in the specified outboard lower-unit and sterndrive applications.
Application
- Manufacturer guidance lists MerCruiser sterndrives and outboard/jet-pump applications above 75 hp.
- For the exact gearcase, follow the lubricant specified in its owner or service manual rather than selecting by horsepower alone.
- This is gear oil, separate from two-stroke engine oil and four-stroke crankcase oil.
Protection
The marine formula helps protect gears from wear, corrosion and metal-to-metal contact under load. Synthetic extreme-pressure additives do not make this a full-synthetic engine oil.
Service notes
Use the engine or drive manual for the required lubricant, fill quantity and service procedure. Check the drained lubricant for water or metal contamination and service the cause before operating. The bottle size is not the gearcase capacity.
